Be proud of yourself!

Yesterday I was reading some old blog posts of mine of 2020. I was living a huge change in my life, since I came back to Italy after six years abroad. My normality changed already before the pandemic, but I was confident better days were coming.

The purpose of my articles is to share my experiences and motivate my readers. It is something usual to me and I actually like doing it. Receiving motivation is, however, something quite new to me, and I am thankful when I receive some support.

When I was reading those articles, I felt I was encouraging and inspiring myself. So I thought: if I am a bit different from that person (I was discovering self development at that time), then it works! I manage to motivate someone, and I did it even some years ago!

And here comes this article. I felt so proud of myself by reading my previous experiences, as I was starting to approach a new life after a lot of suffering. The path I was going to start was mainly to walk alone and now I’ve realized that, even though you are not currently where you wish to be, if you look back, you can shoutout yourself for moving from a bad situation into a better one.

You can enjoy life or little things even if you are experiencing that your current situation is not what you wished for. Remember: current does not mean permanent. Almost nothing in life is permanent.

If you are a writer, have a look at your previous posts and notice how much has changed: your writing style, your ideas, your thinking, and compare those articles to the life you were living at that moment with the moment that you are living right now. Look how much you achieved!

If you are not a writer, you can browse through old books or diaries where you left some notes, have a look at old pictures, and remember what you’ve managed to do so far!

The key to motivation is not to be better than someone else or to do something quicker than other people. The key is to improve yourself towards the person you want to become, towards the life you want to live. If you have already arrived, then congratulations, now stay loyal to yourself.
