My middle school English teacher once told me I was not talented at foreign languages.
I have a MA in English & American Studies, I lived abroad, and I speak four languages.

An Italian teacher, during my high school exams, told me in front of the whole examination board, that I wasn’t able to write very well. She was not a teacher of mine, and she gave me a low mark.
Three years later, during my BA defense presentation, the president of the examination board congratulated me that my thesis was well-written.
During my MA studies I also learnt to write in academic style. I wrote so many academic papers, that I actually love writing.

Many times people told me I wasn’t able to do something, or that I shouldn’t even hope to get a chance for a goal I wanted to achieve.
I did it anyway.

If I had listened to this kind of opinions, I wouldn’t be the person who I am. Am I special? No, but I like the person I’ve become.

Why am I writing this? Because when someone tells you: “You can’t”, the only answer they deserve is your big smile and the words: “See you at the finish line.”
